New entries from Flying Lizard Motorsports, MMG and RS1, as well as the Fanatec GT World Challenge America debut of the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R highlight the increased 14-car entry list for next weekend’s pair of races at Sebring International Raceway.
Released by SRO America on Friday, the entry list marks a notable boost from the season-opening rounds at Sonoma Raceway, which featured a dozen cars.
Flying Lizard will double its efforts in the series with Jason Bell entering his Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo alongside Platinum-rated Henrique Chaves. It comes in addition to Bell’s GT America powered by AWS commitments in the same car.
The No. 2 Pro-Am entry joins the team’s No. 8 Aston driven by Elias Sabo and Andy Lee, which is coming off its IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship debut in last weekend’s Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach.
There will also be two additional Type-992 Porsche 911 GT3 Rs on the grid, with RS1 making its series return with drivers Spencer Pumpelly and Trent Hindman, while MMG will field a Porsche for Alex Tagliani and Jean-Frederic Laberge, as previously announced.
Finally, DXDT will give the new-for-2024 Corvette its debut in SRO global competition, with Bryan Sellers and Scott Smithson at the wheel.
It comes after an initial test at the 3.7-mile airfield circuit earlier this month for the North Carolina-based team, which took delivery of its two cars a few weeks ago.
The team’s No. 91 Burton Lumber-sponsored Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo of Jeff Burton and Philip Ellis, meanwhile, has been re-branded to Regulator Racing, a sister team to DXDT as part of a strategic team separation amid the new Corvette program.
While growing by three cars since Sonoma, Esses Racing has not entered its Mercedes-AMG for Sebring, as expected, with the Austin-based squad contesting a limited schedule again this year.
Track action gets underway on Friday, May 3 with a pair of practice sessions, as well as a Bronze test session, followed by qualifying on Saturday morning and the pair of 90-minute races on Saturday and Sunday, which will be streamed live on SRO’s GT World YouTube channel and on Twitch.
