The No. 88 Kellymoss Porsche 911 GT3 R Evo of John Gilliland and Loek Hartog has been withdrawn from this weekend’s season-opening GT World Challenge America powered by AWS round at Sonoma Raceway following an accident in testing on Wednesday.
Gilliland suffered a crash at the wheel of the Pro-Am class entry in Turn 7 during Wednesday’s final test session, with the car reportedly sustaining chassis damage.
While the FIA Bronze-rated driver escaped injury, per Bill Riley, who is running the three Kellymoss GTWC America entries, the team has elected not to take any further part in the weekend.
This comes despite the team having two spare 911 GT3 R Evo chassis on-site.
Kellymoss will instead focus its GTWC America efforts on its two other Pro-Am entries, driven by Colin Braun/Michael Clarke (No. 017) and Riley Dickinson/Todd Parriott (No. 13).
The withdrawal of the No. 88 entry brings the GTWC America race grid down to 18 cars, with the No. 50 Chouest Povoledo Racing Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R only set to take part in the practice sessions, as extra track time for Ross Chouest’s GT America powered by AWS program, according to team principal Aaron Povoledo.
