The planned Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS season opener at NOLA Motorsports Park has been moved to the second round, in the second calendar adjustment made by SRO America for 2023.
Confirmed on Monday, the NOLA event will now take place on April 28-30 instead of its original late February date, which had clashed with the Kyalami 9 Hour Intercontinental GT Challenge powered by Pirelli race.
As previously reported by Sportscar365, it had also became apparent that SRO Motorsports Group would not have had Balance of Performance data on any new-for-2023 or Evo cars in time for the originally scheduled season-opener due to the annual BoP test occurring at Paul Ricard in early March.
It would have potentially resulted in teams not being eligible to run new machinery such as the Ferrari 296 GT3, Type-992 Porsche 911 GT3 R and Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 for the season-opener.
As a result, the season will now kick off at Sonoma Raceway on its originally scheduled weekend of March 31 – April 2.
No other adjustments have been made to the calendar, which saw date changes to Circuit of The Americas and Road America last month.
