SRO America has announced its provisional calendar for the 2022 season, confirming the future dates for Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS and more.
Of note, Circuit of The Americas does not feature on next year’s SRO America schedule having hosted World Challenge competition each year since 2015.
As announced in June, Sebring will stage the penultimate leg of the seven-round GTWC America, Pirelli GT4 America and TC America powered by Skip Barber Racing School seasons on Sep. 23-25. It will also mark round seven of GT America powered by AWS.
The Florida circuit joins a TBA venue for round two, which is expected to be the new Ozarks International Raceway, on the calendar that was announced on Saturday.
Sonoma is the site of the season-opener, while Virginia International Raceway takes up the round three slot in mid-June, on the same weekend as the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
All of SRO America’s championships including GTWC America then carry on to Watkins Glen in July, before GT America goes alone to Nashville for a pair of street races on the NTT IndyCar Series support bill.
The GT America series, which is catered to amateur drivers in GT3, GT2 and GT4 machinery, supported the Music City Grand Prix for the first time last month.
The full SRO America package will then convene for five-series events at Road America in August, Sebring in September and Indianapolis Motor Speedway in October.
There are no date clashes between GTWC America and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, which also uses GT3 machinery. The only overlap between the two sanctioning bodies occurs when GT America Nashville clashes with IMSA at Road America.
