Fourteen drivers will have a chance of winning the Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup title in next weekend’s finale at Nürburgring, with the chance of the overall Blancpain GT title being wrapped up as well.
Seven driver pairings and four teams could take the Sprint Cup honors home, with the Nürburgring circuit hosting the fifth and final round of the season which has moved later in the season.
While Maxi Buhk and Franck Perera lead the standings on 60 points, Mirko Bortolotti, Christian Engelhart, Dries Vanthoor, Marcel Fassler, Stuart Leonard, Robin Frijns, Markus Winkelhock and Will Stevens are all within six points of the leaders.
Both the Silver Cup and Am Cup categories have already been decided, with Jules Symkowiak and Fabian Schiller taking the former and Stephen Earle and David Perel winning the latter.
In Pro-Am, Daniel Keilwitz and Alexander Mattschull are 13 points clear of Carlo van Dam and Piti Bhirombhakdi.
Furthermore, Bortolotti and Engelhart could win the overall Blancpain GT title one race early, ahead of the Barcelona Endurance Cup round, if they extend their points lead to 27 from 18 in the combined standings.
Thirty-five cars are currently entered on the provisional entry list, with the Emil Frey Racing-entered Lexus RC F GT3 the most notable addition.
Grasser Racing Team has added a third Lamborghini Huracan GT3 for Rolf Ineichen and Tom Dillmann, meanwhile.
Free Practice 1 on Friday, Sept. 15 kicks off the weekend ahead of two one-hour races on Saturday and Sunday.
