24H Spa to Start Behind Safety Car

The Total 24 Hours of Spa will start behind the safety car, as a result of heavy rain at the Belgian circuit. 

Showers began around lunchtime and are expected to continue for most of the race, with rain tires mandatory for the start.

Maro Engel starts on pole in the No. 4 Black Falcon Mercedes-AMG GT3 that he shares with Luca Stolz and Yelmer Buurman. 

Class pole sitters are Steijn Schothorst for Attempto Racing (Silver Cup), Tom Onslow-Cole for Ram Racing (Pro-Am Cup) and Richard Abra for Barwell Motorsport (Am Cup).

Visibility is fairly low at the track, suggesting the safety car could remain at the head of the field for a while before racing can begin. 

Race director Alain Adam confirmed that the safety car will remain out for a minimum of three laps.
