Forty cars are set to contest the penultimate round of the GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Sprint Cup at Magny-Cours, where the top three teams in the overall championship are separated by just a single point.
Released by SRO Motorsports Group on Friday, the entry list for next week’s pair of races at the French circuit has shrunk slightly compared to the record grid of 43 cars that raced at Misano.
This is partially because both the No. 41 Razoon – More than Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R and No. 46 Team WRT BMW M4 GT3 EVO were one-off entries for the Italian round and will not compete at Magny-Cours.
Meanwhile, the No. 1 GRT Grasser Racing Team Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 is set to miss the event after Georgi Donchev’s significant crash during Race 2 at Misano.
The No. 24 Steller Motorsport Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R has also not returned after it was withdrawn shortly before the Misano round.
Just two teams have opted to make driver changes compared to the previous round, with Marvin Dienst replacing Gabriele Piana aboard the Bronze Cup-entered No. 81 Winward Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo.
Team principal Christian Hohenadel confirmed to Sportscar365 that the change was pre-planned, with Piana tackling the rounds at Zandvoort and Misano and Dienst scheduled to come in for the final two weekends at Magny-Cours and Valencia.
Rafael Suzuki, meanwhile, returns to the lineup for the No. 270 Comtoyou Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo in place of Sergio Sette Camara. He teams up with compatriot Ricardo Baptista.
Team WRT pairing Charles Weerts and Kelvin van der Linde currently lead the overall Sprint Cup standings with 53 points, but the top three in the championship are separated by just a single point.
The No. 48 Winward Racing Mercedes-AMG of Lucas Auer and Maro Engel and the Garage 59 pairing of Marvin Kirchhoefer and Benjamin Goethe are tied for second place, with both having scored 52 points after three rounds.
