Audi Sport Team WRT moved into the lead of the 24 Hours of Spa, after changing weather conditions caught out several of the other top teams.
Two-thirds of the second hour were completed behind the safety car, as barrier repairs at Les Combes took place.
Meanwhile, the rain had stopped and as a dry line formed, several teams came into the pits to switch from rain tires to slick tires.
Right before racing resumed after a 53-minute safety car period, the two Von Ryan Racing McLarens made their second pit stop of the race, which looked like a good call with others circulating at lower speeds.
However, just minutes after the restart the rain returned to the Spa-Francorchamps circuit and those that switched to slicks lost their advantage and had to pit again. As a result the two Von Ryan Racing cars dropped out of the top 15.
René Rast, who had stayed out on wets, only had to make one stop for new wets right before the end of the second hour.
