The Oman Racing Team Aston Martin Vantage GT3 set the fastest time in a rain-affected first free practice session of the Blancpain Endurance Series at Silverstone.
Michael Caine, who shares the No. 44 Aston Martin with Ahmad Al Harthy and Stephen Jelley, was fastest around the British track. His fastest time was only a 2:30.176, set early in the session when the heavy rain had not yet set in.
Around 20 minutes into the session heavy rain meant all cars had returned to the pit and for over half an hour there was no activity out on track. As the conditions improved slightly teams went out again, but was red flagged when the No. 111 Kessel Racing Ferrari hit the barrier.
The session was restarted, but as conditions deteriorated again there were no improvements and Caine stayed on top.
Franck Perera was second fastest, Stef Dusseldorp ended the session in third place, a morale boost for the Dutchman after a disastrous Blancpain Sprint Series meeting at Brands Hatch last weekend.
