Philip Ellis will join Boutsen VDS to complete the Belgian squad’s Pro lineup for this weekend’s Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup round at the Nürburgring.
The No. 9 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo, which Ellis will share with Thomas Drouet and Maximilian Goetz, had a TBA listed when SRO Motorsports Group released the official entry list for the event on Monday.
Boutsen VDS will go into the Nürburgring round with the third different lineup in as many races, having so far relied on a rotating cast of drivers alongside Drouet and Goetz.
Adam Christodoulou was part of the lineup for the opening round at Paul Ricard, but was subsequently replaced for the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa by Ulysse de Pauw.
Mercedes-AMG factory driver Ellis, who formed part of Regulator Racing’s winning lineup in Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS last weekend, is set for his first appearance with the team.
He contested the Spa blue riband event with Al Manar Racing by GetSpeed, taking the Gold Cup class victory alongside Al Faisal Al Zubair, Dominik Baumann and Mikael Grenier.
The Nürburgring round marks Ellis’ first Fanatec GT Europe appearance outside the 24H Spa since last year, when he completed a full Endurance Cup campaign with Winward Racing.
Mercedes-AMG’s two other Pro entries for the third Endurance Cup round remain unchanged, with GetSpeed Performance fielding a single car for Fabian Schiller, Luca Stolz and Jules Gounon while Maro Engel, Lucas Auer and Daniel Morad line up for Winward.
