Robin Frijns will join Enzo Ide in the No. 33 Belgian Audi Club Team WRT Audi R8 LMS at Barcelona in an effort to help secure the Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup drivers’ title.
As previously reported, Christopher Mies will miss the final round of the Sprint Cup due to a clash with ADAC GT Masters, where he also leads the championship with the Land Motorsport Audi R8 LMS he shares with Connor De Phillippi.
Mies and Ide came out of the penultimate round at Hungaroring with a 17-point lead over Maxi Buhk and Dominik Baumann (HTP Mercedes), with 34 points still up for grabs in Barcelona.
Frijns will move over from the No. 4 WRT Audi to the No. 33 entry to help Ide secure the title in two weeks’ time.
The newly composed duo already tested at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Nico Müller will take over Frijns’ seat in the No. 4 WRT Audi next to Dries Vanthoor.
Müller and the youngest of the Vanthoor brothers already raced together during the Nürburgring Sprint Cup round earlier this year.
