Garage 59 has completed its driver lineup for the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS season with the signing of Canadian racer Ethan Simioni.
The 2018 Canadian Touring Car GT4 champion will join Manuel Maldonado and Nicolai Kjaergaard in the No. 159 McLaren 720S GT3 for the five-round Endurance Cup season, which starts at Imola this weekend.
Simioni will also compete in the Sprint Cup, sharing the No. 159 Garage 59 car with former LMP2 competitor Maldonado.
The dual Silver Cup program marks Simioni’s GTWC Europe debut. He entered the GT3 arena last year driving a 2 Seas Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo in the International GT Open, where he claimed a pair of race wins alongside Martin Kodric.
Garage 59 has switched to McLaren machinery for the 2022 season after running Aston Martin Vantage GT3s for three consecutive years.
The British squad is fielding two McLarens in both Endurance and Sprint. Its No. 188 Pro-Am entry involves Henrique Chaves, Miguel Ramos and Alexander West for the long-distance championship, plus Ramos and Dean MacDonald for the Sprint series.
