Comtoyou Racing Audi driver Christopher Haase posted the fastest lap on the opening day of official testing for the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa in early July.
Haase topped both the three-hour morning session and the five-hour afternoon run in the No. 11 Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo that he shares with Frederic Vervisch and Gilles Magnus in the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup.
The Audi Sport factory driver registered a time of 2:18.525 in the rain-affected morning test, but removed almost two seconds as the conditions improved after the lunch break.
Haase came away with a best effort of 2:16.741, beating Julian Andlauer in the Manthey EMA Porsche 911 GT3 R to the top spot by 0.058 seconds.
Audis and Porsches featured heavily at the top of the times, as Tresor by Orange 1 ended up second overall with its No. 40 Audi and Team Parker Racing’s Bronze Cup Porsche finished fourth.
Several incidents were recorded on the opening day of the test, including an accident for the Bullitt Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT3 at Raidillon.
There were also red flags for the No. 89 Akkodis ASP Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo, which went off at the same corner, and the No. 58 Grasser Racing Team Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 which entered the gravel trap at Les Combes.
Other incidents included a puncture for the Grove Racing Porsche, a stoppage for the ST Racing with Rinaldi Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo 2020 at the Bus Stop chicane, and a spin for the No. 9 Boutsen VDS Audi at Pouhon.
The only major interruption in the morning was a crash at the Pouhon left-hander for the No. 26 Sainteloc Junior Team Audi, which required half an hour of barrier repairs.
Eight more hours of testing are scheduled for Wednesday, with the three-hour morning session due to start at 9 a.m. local time (3 a.m. ET).
