Herberth Motorsport driver Tim Heinemann set the fastest time in GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup Free Practice at the Nürburgring.
Heinemann, piloting the No. 92 Porsche 911 GT3 R, posted a 1:55.249 to go quickest in a largely incident-free two-hour session to kick off official running for the penultimate Endurance Cup round.
The German also led Gold Cup in the process, 0.048 seconds faster than class rival Jens Klingmann in the No. 777 Al Manar Racing by WRT BMW M4 GT3 EVO, who went second fastest overall.
Maximilian Goetz was third aboard the No. 9 Boutsen VDS Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo and was the quickest Pro runner, while fourth-placed David Schumacher topped Silver Cup in fourth for HRT Ford Performance.
Schumacher’s Haupt Racing Team stablemate Arjun Maini rounded out the top five in the No. 64 Ford Mustang GT3, followed by Dan Harper’s Bronze Cup-leading No. 991 Paradine Competition BMW.
Marco Sorensen slotted into seventh aboard the No. 7 Comtoyou Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo, one spot clear of the No. 12 Rinaldi Racing Ferrari 296 GT3.
The overall top ten was completed by the No. 98 ROWE Racing BMW of Raffaele Marciello and David Pittard in the No. 34 Walkenhorst Motorsport Aston Martin.
The session was largely completed without notable incidents, except for a late Full Course Yellow after Sai Sanjay’s No. 112 CSA Racing McLaren 720S GT3 Evo slid into the Turn 6 barriers with two minutes remaining on the clock.
On-track action at the Nürburgring continues with Pre-Qualifying at 2:25 p.m. CEST (8:25 a.m. EST).
