The No. 83 Iron Dames Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 has been withdrawn from this weekend’s CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa to allow Sarah Bovy to recover following her crash in the Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen.
Bovy was due to share the car with regular co-drivers Rahel Frey and Michelle Gatting in the centenary edition of the Belgian endurance classic, competing in the Bronze Cup.
However, the team confirmed on Tuesday that it had opted to pull its entry for the event in the wake of Bovy’s race-ending crash in Sunday’s six-hour IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship round.
Bovy was discharged from hospital on Monday and was able to travel back from the U.S. to her native Belgium.
“With heavy hearts, we are sad to announce the Iron Dames withdrawal from the 24 Hours of Spa this week,” the Iron Dames wrote through a statement on social media.
“After an incident in Watkins Glen this weekend, Sarah was taken to hospital for necessary checks and she is doing fine, and that is what matters, but we have decided to withdraw from the race to allow her time to recover.
“We want to thank all marshals and medical staff for their support this week, and of course, thank you to all the fans for their well wishes. Your support is truly cherished.”
With the withdrawal, the total number of cars set to contest this weekend’s third round of the Intercontinental GT Challenge drops from 67 to 66. The Bronze Cup, meanwhile, is down to 20 entries.
