Kazuto Kotaka has been forced on to the sidelines for this weekend’s GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup round at the Nürburgring, with Adam Christodoulou having been drafted in to take his place at Nordique Racing.
As indicated by last week’s entry list for the three-hour enduro, Kotaka had been due to share the No. 611 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo with fellow Toyota driver Yuichi Nakayama and Edoardo Liberati for the penultimate round of the season.
However, ahead of Thursday’s pre-event test, it was revealed that Christodolou had been called up to replace Kotaka, who is unable to compete due to injury.
It brings a premature end to Kotaka’s campaign as he will be unavailable for the season finale at Barcelona in October due to a clash with his Super Formula program.
Christodoulou will be making his first GTWC Europe Endurance Cup outing since a one-off appearance for Boutsen VDS in last year’s Paul Ricard opener.
There are several other changes from the original entry list, one of which concerns the No. 30 Team WRT BMW M4 GT3 EVO as ex-Steller Motorsport driver Matisse Lismont takes the place of Gustav Bergstrom.
Elsewhere, in the No. 188 Garage 59 McLaren 720s GT3 Evo, James Baldwin has been drafted in to replace Miguel Ramos, while Thomas Lebbon has replaced Kiern Jewiss in the No. 222 2 Seas Motorsport Mercedes-AMG.
Marta Garcia is also not making her series debut as planned in the No. 888 UNX Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R, leaving Mathieu Detry and Fabian Duffieux to race as a duo.
