Land Audi Tops Free Practice at Spa

Montaplast by Land Motorsport has topped the time charts in Free Practice for the Total 24 Hours of Spa.

Kelvin van der Linde took the team’s No. 29 Audi R8 LMS to a quick time of 2:20.865 early in the 90-minute session, outpacing the HTP Motorsport-run No. 84 Team MANN-FILTER Mercedes-AMG GT3 of Renger van der Zande by 0.036 seconds.

The No. 34 Walkenborst Motorsport BMW M6 GT3 was third quickest overall and in the Pro Cup, with the Audi Sport-backed No. 25 Team Sainteloc entry fourth and No. 4 Mercedes-AMG supported Black Falcon entry completing the top-five.

Daiko Lazarus Racing’s Lamborghini Huracan GT3 was sixth overall and quickest of the Silver Cup entries, while the No. 53 AF Corse Ferrari 488 GT3 paced Pro-Am with the ninth best time.

The session featured a single red flag for an accident by the No. 6 Black Falcon Mercedes of Aziz Al Faisal, who backed the Silver Cup entry into the barriers in Turn 17.

No word has been given on the extent of damage to the Mercedes.

Pre-qualifying gets underway at 6:10 p.m. local time.
