Having won the 2013 International GT Open, Villorba Corse is set to expand into the Blancpain GT Series in 2014. The Italian squad has partnered with the Historic Endurance Rallying Organisation (HERO) and will run a Ferrari 458 Italia GT3 this season.
HERO Managing Director Tomas de Vargas Machuca confirmed his organization will work together with Villorba Corse this season in a number of series in Europe.
“We are very pleased that HERO and Villorba Corse have reached an agreement about the management of the Ferrari 458 GT3,” said De Vargas Machuca. “Our company bought the car to compete in various championships.” A team statement confirmed the Blancpain series and GT Open are under consideration.
Earlier Villorba Corse team principal Raimondo Amodio already announced the team would run a second car this season.
“We are excited about doubling our presence with a program in the GTS category as well, and we are currently advancing in conversation with different drivers,” said Amodio. “The idea is to be present in the Winter Series with the GT3 car, in order to familiarize with it and finalize the program after that.”
