Audi will increase its factory involvement to four cars for next month’s Total 24 Hours of Spa, supporting R8 LMS entries run by Team WRT, Sainteloc Racing and ISR.
This marks an increase over last year’s entry which saw just one factory-backed entry each from WRT and Phoenix Racing.
In addition to the four factory cars, which comprise two WRT entries and one each from Sainteloc and ISR, a further six Audi R8 LMS will be raced as customer cars.
This year’s race will be WRT’s seventh in succession as a factory-supported effort, while Czech outfit ISR and France’s Sainteloc Racing will enjoy this status for the first time.
Audi has three wins in the race since 2011, and three drivers in this year’s lineup (Rene Rast, Frank Stippler and Markus Winkelhock) have been part of these successes.
Last month’s Nürburgring 24 winners Kelvin van der Linde, Christopher Mies, Connor de Phillippi and Winkelhock will all compete for Audi in the Belgian race, but in different cars.
“We are sending our four factory-supported race cars to compete under the supervision of experienced teams who regularly contest the Blancpain GT Series,” said Chris Reinke, Head of Audi Sport Customer Racing.
“Together we have drawn up promising combinations of drivers that should enable us to fight for victory in the Ardennes.”
WRT will run four of the six customer entries, while ISR and Sainteloc will each have one extra car.
