The hard compound Michelin Pilot Sport tires helped lead No. 6 Porsche Penske Motorsport’s Nick Tandy and Mathieu Jaminet to victory lane at Road America. Teammates Dane Cameron and Felipe Nasr in the No. 7 Porsche 963 finished second.
“It was an awesome race. We came from the back,” Tandy stated. “We didn’t pit for fuel. We kept the same set of tires on the last two stints of the race.”
The 2-hour and 40-minute race featured multiple cautions, allowing teams to switch up their pit strategy. It all paid off for the No. 6 with a solid points day after starting seventh.
“This hard compound of Michelin tires brought us all the way home,” Tandy said. “Me and my buddy Mathieu have got big points and a big smile on our faces.”
This was Tandy and Jaminet’s second win of the season. They move up to second in the GTP standings, just 100 points behind leaders Cameron and Nasr.
