Michael Christensen has claimed victory in the second Pirelli World Challenge GT Sprint race of the weekend at Road America.
The Porsche factory driver took his No. 24 Alegra Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R to a 2.210-second win over Saturday’s race-winning No. 9 K-PAX Racing Bentley Continental GT3 of Alvaro Parente.
Parente led the field to the green but lost the position to the Dane on the opening lap of the 50-minute race.
It marked Christensen’s second PWC victory in the last four races.
The No. 31 TR3 Racing Ferrari 488 GT3 of Daniel Mancinelli completed the podium in third, followed by Scott Hargrove in the No. 96 Pfaff Motorsports Porsche, who had an off-corse excursion after battling with the Italian.
Hargrove managed to finish the race despite his car’s radiator filled with grass.
Toni Vilander completed the top-five overall and in the GT class, with Parker Chase edging out Martin Fuentes at the line to claim GTA honors in the No. 19 TruSpeed Autosport Audi R8 LMS.
Chase finished seventh overall, behind the No. 3 K-PAX Bentley of Rodrigo Baptista.
A broken toe link for the No. 2 CRP Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 forced Daniel Morad to pit with two laps remaining, dashing hopes of a top-five.
James Holds Off Sofronas Again for GTS Honors
In a near mirror-image to Saturday, Ian James held off a hard-charging James Sofronas for GTS honors to claim he and Team Panoz Racing’s fourth consecutive win at Road America.
James crossed the line 0.437 seconds ahead of the No. 14 GMG Racing Audi R8 LMS GT4 of Sofronas, who made a late-race pass on the No. 69 Racers Edge Motorsports SIN R1 GT4 of Harry Gottsacker.
Gottsacker, who led early, was forced to settle for third, with the No. 55 PF Racing Ford Mustang GT4 of Jade Buford finishing fourth.
The No. 62 KPR McLaren 570S GT4 of Mark Klenin, meanwhile, also swept the weekend in GTSA.
A heavy accident for the No. 2 GMG Audi GT4 of Jason Bell, who was turned around by the No. 77 VOLT Racing Mustang GT4 of Alan Brynjolfsson, resulted in a lengthy full course caution.
Bell was uninjured although extensive damage was sustained to the car, with Brynjolfsson black-flagged for incident responsibility.
