Continental Tire Keys to the Race for the 56th Rolex 24 at Daytona…

The 2018 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship kicks off with this weekend’s 56th running of the Rolex 24 at Daytona. The Florida endurance classic also doubles as the opening round of the Tequila Patron North American Endurance Cup.

Continental Tire Keys to the Race: 

Race: Rolex 24 at Daytona

Track: Daytona International Speedway; 12-turn, 3.56-mile oval/road course

Length: 24 hours

Entries: 50 cars spread across three classes: 20 cars (P), 9 cars (GTLM), 21 cars (GTD)

Schedule:

Thursday, Jan. 25 (all times ET)
Practice 1 – 9:20 – 10:20 a.m.
Practice 2 – 1:40 – 2:40 p.m.
Qualifying – 3:55 – 5 p.m.
Practice 3 –  6:30 – 8 p.m.

Friday, Jan. 26
Practice 4 – 9:40-10:40 a.m.
CTSC Race – 1 p.m. (4 hours)

Saturday, Jan. 27
Race –  2:40 p.m. (24 hours)

Drive Times: Minimum: 5 hours (GTD Bronze/Silver-rated drivers); Base Time: 2 hours (P/GTLM); 3 hours, 15 minutes (GTD); Maximum: 13 hours and no more than 4 hours in a 6-hour period

Tires: Continental Tire “Gold” for P and GTD classes. Multiple tire options for GTLM

Pit Stops: 45-50 minute stint length for P; 55-60 minutes for GTLM/GTD

Weather: Cloudy, High: 69 F, Low 53 F; 70 percent chance of rain on Sunday

TV: Flag-to-flag coverage between FOX family of networks
