The No. 009 Heart of Racing Team Aston Martin Valkyrie will undergo a chassis change following Marco Sorensen’s accident in Tuesday morning’s opening Prologue session at Imola.

The Dane escaped injury in the high-speed crash at Tamburello, resulting in a lengthy red flag period to recover the LMH-based Hypercar and perform barrier repairs.

An Aston Martin spokesperson confirmed to Sportscar365 that the American-flagged team is now set to undergo a chassis change ahead of the start of Friday’s official track activity.

Sportscar365 understands that the spare chassis is already the region, with the team and manufacturer having followed the FIA and ACO’s protocols regarding having a spare car on-site.

It’s believed the car was due to receive a fresh chassis following Sunday’s season-opening 6 Hours of Imola, as part of its normal lifecycle.

Sorensen shares the V12-powered Hypercar with Alex Riberas, in the second season of competition for the car in the world championship.
