Alex Sedgwick was quickest of Porsche Carrera Cup North America competitors at the Miami International Autodrome in the opening practice session of the weekend.

The PT Autosport-backed JDX Racing driver stormed to a best time of 1:58.020 in his No. 98 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup race car to edge out teammate Zachary Vanier by 0.317 seconds.

Michael Cooper was third quickest for Baby Bull Racing, followed by the third JDX Racing entry driven by Elias De La Torre in fourth and Michael McCann, who completed the top-five.

Pro class points leader Gus Burton, of MDK Motorsports, and title rival Loek Hartog, for Kellymoss, were sixth and seventh, respectively, with ACI Motorsports’ Jimmy Llibre slotting in eighth.

The 30-minute session ran without any red flags.

Moisey Uretzky led the Pro-Am ranks in his No. 44 Baby Bull Porsche, having posted the 12th quickest time overall, while MDK’s Mark Kvamme led the way in the Masters class.

Thirty seven of the 38 entries turned laps in the session, with the No. 32 GMG Racing Porsche of Kyle Washington having been withdrawn due to his clashing SRO America commitments at Sebring this weekend.

The second and final Carrera Cup North America practice session is scheduled for a 6:05 p.m. EDT start time.
