Klaus Bachler will take part in next weekend’s FIA World Endurance Championship season-opening Six Hours of Silverstone, as a substitute driver for Patrick Long, Porsche has confirmed.
The former Porsche Junior will join Khaled Al Qubaisi and David Heinemeier Hansson in the No. 88 Abu Dhabi Proton Racing Porsche 911 RSR, due to Long’s Pirelli World Challenge commitments that weekend in Long Beach.
Bachler is no stranger to the Christian Ried-led squad, having driven alongside Al Qubaisi in the majority of the WEC rounds over the last two seasons. The pairing are coming off a runner-up finish in the GTE-Am class in last year’s season finale in Bahrain.
Long, who was announced as a full-season driver with the team, could also miss his home round at Circuit of The Americas, due to the PWC round at Sonoma Raceway the same weekend in September. However, nothing has been confirmed.
