The successful 24H Series is set to become an international series recognized by the FIA in 2015.

Creventic, the promoters and organisers of the 24H Series, have announced they will apply for the championship status with the FIA, through the KNAF (Royal Dutch Autosport Federation).

The FIA World Motorsport Council will have to decide whether or not it will grant the 24H Series its international series status.

If successful, the 24H Series will become a series in which teams and drivers will be able to score points and titles will be awarded at the end of the season.

“Since we added more events to our schedule next to the Hankook 24H Dubai, we have been getting requests from teams to turn the series into a full championship,” Creventic’s Gerrie Willems explained.

“Following the success we have had over the years, we feel that now the time has come to make this step. We announced our plans to the teams and drivers in Barcelona last week and we got very positive feedback. Indeed, several teams already have expressed their interest to take part in all our events and thus commit to our full series.”

It is likely that teams entering the series will be able to drop one or two scores, making it possible to miss a round. A decision on this regulation will be made at a later date.

The 2015 24H Series will have a six-round calendar, starting in Dubai with the 10th 24H Dubai in January.

2015 24H Series Schedule:

Jan. 8-10 – Hankook 24H Dubai
March 13-14 – Hankook 12H Italy-Mugello
April 24-25 – Hankook 12H Zandvoort
July 3-5 – Hankook 24H Paul Ricard
Sept. 4-6 – 24H Barcelona
Oct. 2-3 – Hankook 12H Hungary
