Aston Martin has officially taken the wraps off its new Vantage GT4 model, featuring ‘evolutionary’ updates to the previous-generation machine that debuted in 2018.
Having made its competition debut in last month’s IMSA-sanctioned races at Daytona International Speedway with Rebel Rock Racing, the new Vantage GT4 shares around 80 percent of the recently launched road car’s structural and mechanical components.
It includes the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine and transmission, with primary changes having been made to the electronics, chassis and suspension and other areas.
The new Vantage GT4 is being sold only as a new turn-key race car, rather than offering an Evo kit, meaning existing customer teams will need to purchase an entire new car.
“The new Vantage GT4 is very much an evolution of the previous car,” said Aston Martin Head of Endurance Motorsport Adam Carter.
“Closer synergies between Aston Martin’s road and race car programs have enabled AMR to capitalize upon improvements made to the new Vantage road car for increased speed and efficiency, while retaining the core qualities that made the outgoing GT4 so popular with teams and drivers.”
AMR anticipates building more than 40 cars over the course of this year.
“Benefitting from the significant performance improvements seen in the sensational new Vantage road car, and developed in parallel with the Vantage GT3, the Vantage GT4 is a demonstration of the increasing synergies between our road and race car programs,” said Aston Martin Lagonda chief brand and commercial officer Marco Mattiacci.
“The introduction of the new Vantage GT4 also allows us to build an even deeper connection to Aston Martin’s partner teams.
“We currently have more than 40 partners in active competition across the broad spectrum of global GT racing, many of whom are running multi-car, multi-class programs.
“This level of engagement underlines our commitment to all levels of motorsport competition as well as building closer ties with our wider community of fans and followers, many of whom fell in love with the brand through our successes in sports car racing and at Le Mans.”
The reveal comes two weeks after the updated GT3-spec Vantage formally broke cover, also following its debut in Daytona. It is making its FIA World Endurance Championship debut in this weekend’s Qatar 1812 km.
