Crucial Motorsports will enter McLaren’s new Artura GT4 car in IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge next year, with a two-car GS class effort planned alongside possible additional entries in the new VP Racing SportsCar Challenge.
The Florida-based team, run by Aaron Nash and Paul Holton, made its IMSA debut this year in the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship GTD ranks with a McLaren 720S GT3 for selected rounds.
The confirmed Pilot Challenge operation comes in partnership with McLaren Orlando, with drivers yet to be announced.
It is the first North American team to confirm a pro racing program with the Artura GT4, which succeeds the McLaren 570S GT4 as the British manufacturer’s GT4 customer offering.
“We are excited to announce this program after many months of planning with McLaren Orlando,” said Nash, who serves as the Crucial’s motorsports operations director.
“I cannot be more excited to have such an enthusiastic partner in this venture into the GT4 ranks with us.”
Holton added: “We have really enjoyed working in the IMSA paddock. It really is the pinnacle of GT3 and GT4 racing in the world right now.
“The race strategies and the pitstops, it’s rewarding for drivers, crew, sponsors, and our partners alike.
“This new Artura GT4 is an exciting new product from McLaren and will be a great race car.”
In addition to its IMSA commitments, the team is also evaluating potential efforts in Pirelli GT4 America and GT America presented by AWS with the car.
