De Quesada Puts MIA McLaren on Pole in Mid-Ohio

Michael de Quesada has claimed pole position for this weekend’s O’Reilly Auto Parts Four Hours of Mid-Ohio, with the No. 69 Motorsports In Action McLaren Artura GT4 set to lead the field to green for the third IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge Race in succession.

De Quesada reeled off a 1:26.262 lap to edge out Jared Thomas’s No. 3 JTR Motorsports Engineering Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport by 0.207 seconds, despite a late improvement from there Indiana native.

Team TGM’s Paul Holton was the third fastest in the No. 46 Aston Martin Vantage GT4 he shared with Matt Plumb.

Jesse Webb qualified fourth for JMF Motorsports, with Danny Formal rounding out the top-five in his No. 19 van der Steur Racing Aston Martin.

The TCR class saw Karl Wittmer’s claim the pole in the No. 93 Montreal Motorsports Honda Civic Type-R TCR he shares with Daijiro Yoshihara, building on the duo’s class-leading pace from Practice 2.

Wittmer’s 1:27.103 benchmark time placed him 0.181 clear of Robert Wickens’ No. 33 Bryan Herta Autosport Hyundai Elantra N TCR which will start tomorrow’s race second in class.

MMR’s Bryan Ortiz will start third in the No. 6 Honda he co-drives with Louis-Philippe Montour.

Both 15-minute qualifying sessions race ran entirely green, allowing drivers to set the maximum possible number of quick laps without interruption.

The 40-car field will take the green flag of the four-hour enduro at 12:40 p.m. EDT on Sunday afternoon with live coverage available on Peacock and IMSA.tv.
