Holton Beats Paley to Road Atlanta Pole

Paul Holton narrowly beat Sam Paley to pole position in qualifying for the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge finale at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.

Holton steered the No. 46 Team TGM Aston Martin Vantage GT4 to a best lap of 1:26.472, beating Paley’s No. 13 McCumbee McAleer Racing Ford Mustang GT4 by a mere 0.017 seconds.

Rory van der Steur took third aboard the No. 19 Van der Steur Racing Aston Martin, joined on the second row by the No. 96 Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT4 driven by Robby Foley.

Sean McAlister completed the the top five in class aboard the No. 39 CarBahn Motorsports BMW, ahead of RS1’s Stevan McAleer and the No. 91 Kellymoss with Riley Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS CS.

Bryson Morris led a Hyundai 1-2-3-4 in the TCR category, posting a 1:26.962 aboard the No. 77 Bryan Herta Autosport Hyundai Elantra N TCR.

Morris’ time, which was good enough for fifth overall, left him 0.501 seconds clear of stablemate Robert Wickens, with Mason Filippi and VGRT’s Morgan Burkhard third and fourth, respectively.

Dai Yoshihara completed the top five in the No. 93 Montreal Motorsport Group Honda Civic FL5 TCR.

The TCR session was interrupted by a red flag, triggered when Sam Baker hit the wall at Turn 7 aboard the No. 52 Baker Racing Audi RS3 LMS TCR.

The final round of the Michelin Pilot Challenge season is set to kick off at 12:45 p.m. EDT.
