Rebel Rock Racing has confirmed its move to Aston Martin for the upcoming IMSA seasons.
The Florida-based team will retire its Chevrolet Camaro GT4.R, which is now out of homologation, and replace it with the new Aston Martin Vantage GT4, entering cars in both Michelin Pilot Challenge and VP Racing SportsCar Challenge.
“After five years racing with Chevrolet and a relationship dating back to 2008 it was always going to be a tough decision choosing a new manufacturer with which to realign ourselves,” explained driver and team principal Robin Liddell.
“We are confident that we have picked the right partner with AMR and we are delighted that they have also chosen us to help represent them with the new car.”
Team owner Frank DePew added: “I am very happy with the team’s performance in the past, and I am thrilled we are starting this new chapter at Rebel Rock Racing with Aston Martin Racing.
“I’m also excited to be sharing the car with Robin and Andrew again, and we are honored that most of our crew will continue this journey with us, as we welcome a few new crew members into the Rebel Rock family. ”
Andrew Davis will join the regular driver lineup of Liddell and DePew for the four-hour Pilot Challenge season opener later this month, with DePew contesting the single-driver VP Racing Challenge series in the GSX class.
Team Eyeing WeatherTech Championship Expansion
Rebel Rock’s commitment to Aston Martin extend to select rounds of the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship with the latest-spec Vantage GT3 Evo.
“Our goal is to dip our toe in the GT3 waters later in the year,” said Liddell.
“Building strong partnerships is key within our ethos at Rebel Rock and we are not only excited to debut this beautiful new Aston Martin but also for the future opportunities this partnership could bring as we explore the possibility of going endurance racing at the next level.
“I’m excited to start this new chapter with Rebel Rock Racing.”
