Rockwell Autosport Development will make the switch from Audi RS 3 LMS TCR machinery to the Hyundai Elantra N TCR for the final two rounds of the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge season, beginning with this weekend’s race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The New Jersey-based team, which has regularly fielded two Audis in the TCR ranks, will run a single Hyundai for Eric Rockwell and Christina Lam in Saturday’s two-hour contest, as part of a new technical partnership with Bryan Herta Autosport.

“We decided to make this mid-season move, having seen the kind of manufacturer support Hyundai and BHA provide in the Michelin Pilot paddock,” said team principal Alex Rockwell.

“In addition, over the last several years, Elantra has proven to be a very reliable and capable platform.

“When you put it all together, this move was an easy decision. I am looking forward to growing this partnership and the next chapter for our team.”

As part of the BHA customer support program, Rockwell will gain access to engineering resources and a dedicated parts supply program, helping to “streamline” the learning curve and “maximize” on-track performance according to a statement from BHA,

“Rockwell Autosport Development has proven to be a passionate and competitive team in the IMSA paddock, and we’re thrilled to welcome them to the Hyundai TCR program,” said BHA co-owner Bryan Herta. “We look forward to supporting their continued success.”
