A final entry list has been issued for next week’s Meguiar’s Bathurst 12 Hour, featuring a total of 35 cars in what represents the largest field assembled for the Intercontinental GT Challenge season opener since the COVID-19 pandemic.
Revealed on Wednesday, just over a week before the start of track action for the famous Australian enduro, the entry is made up of 31 GT3 cars representing ten brands, bolstered by a pair of GT4 entries and two cars in the invitational class.
It adds up to the largest field for the Bathurst 12H since the 2020 event, which featured 39 cars, although only 34 of those ultimately took the start.
Of the 31 GT3 cars, 15 will be battling for outright honors in the Pro class, while the Pro-Am, Silver and Bronze categories see four, two and ten entries respectively.
An additional Pro class lineup was revealed on Wednesday in the form of the No. 183 Jamec Racing-backed Melbourne Performance Centre Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II.
The car will be shared by Brad Schumacher, Will Brown and long-time factory Audi racer Christopher Haase, who returns to Bathurst for the first time in two years.
Among the other lineups confirmed by the entry list are the No. 9 Hallmarc Team MPC Audi, which will be shared by Marc Cini, Dean Fiore and Lee Holdsworth, and the No. 21 Porsche 911 GT3 R, shared by Ralf Bohn and brothers Robert and Alfred Renauer.
Mercedes-AMG is the best represented manufacturer on the grid with ten examples of its GT3 Evo, followed by Porsche with five cars, Audi with four cars and BMW, which won last year’s Bathurst 12H with Team WRT, with three cars.
Ferrari, McLaren and Corvette have two cars apiece, while the GT3 field is made up of single cars from Aston Martin, Ford and Lamborghini.
The GT4 class features a single McLaren Artura GT4 from Method Motorsport going up against Team NZ’s Aston Martin Vantage GT4, and the Invitational class is made up of a Vantage Racing KTM X-Bow GT2 and 111 Racing’s IRC GT.
Practice for the Bathurst 12H begins on Fri. Feb. 13, with four sessions scheduled that day, with an additional two sessions on Saturday morning prior to qualifying.
The race itself is slated to start at 5:45 a.m. local time on Sun. Feb 15.
