Van der Steur Racing has committed to a full-season effort in IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge, with Denis Dupont joining Rory van der Steur in the team’s Hyundai Veloster N TCR.

The team made its series debut in the 2020 season-ending round at Sebring International Raceway with van der Steur and Danny Formal as drivers.

It is so far the eighth Hyundai confirmed for the class, between the Veloster N and new-for-2021 Elantra N TCR models.

Dupont, a race winner in NASCAR Whelen Euro Series competition and former FIA WTCR driver, will step up to full-time competition in the No. 19 entry.

“We want to fight for the championship,” said Dupont. “[Rory and I] should be a strong enough pairing to do so and I believe the team should be capable of doing so, too.”

Van der Steur added: “The main goal out of the gate is to obviously win, but going up against some heavy [hitting teams] will not make that task easy.

“Having Denis and some vital members on the team will hopefully make for an exciting season for us.”
