Winward Racing/HTP Motorsport will return to a two-car Mercedes-AMG GT4 entry for this weekend’s IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge race at Virginia International Raceway.

The team’s full-season lineups of Russell Ward and Indy Dontje (No. 33) and Bryce Ward and Christian Hohenadel (No. 57) are set to be back in action following a singe-car effort at Road America for the Wards.

It came after a weekend-ending accident by Russell Ward in practice at Lime Rock Park that saw the No. 57 car run that race as well.

The two Winward/HTP entries are among the 25 GS class entries due to take part in Saturday’s two-hour race.

A total of 37 cars are on the entry list for the eighth round of the season, featuring several changes since Road America.

It includes Moorespeed’s Pilot Challenge debut with an Audi R8 LMS GT4 for Spencer Pumpelly and Rob Ferriol and an all-new lineup in the No. 17 JDC-Miller Motorsports Audi RS 3 LMS TCR featuring open-wheel ace Gabby Chaves.

Work requirements, meanwhile, has ruled out HART’s Honda of America-crewed Honda Civic Type-R TCR from this weekend’s race.

Track action gets underway on Thursday with a promoter test day for Pilot Challenge competitors.
