IMSA has confirmed the full entry list for the 2025 WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season, headlined by an eleven-car full-season GTP grid.
Revealed by IMSA President John Doonan during Thursday’s State of the Sport address at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, the series outlined a total of 48 confirmed full-season entries.
However, an IMSA spokesperson told Sportscar365 that there is potential space for one further additional entry to join the grid.
Meanwhile, 56 entries are set to take on the five Michelin Endurance Cup rounds, while a field of over 60 cars is expected for January’s Rolex 24 at Daytona.
The headline GTP class will consist of eleven cars and will feature the debut of the Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR-LMH in a single-car Heart of Racing Team effort as confirmed on Tuesday.
The team is joined by two-car efforts for Porsche Penske Motorsport, Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing, BMW M Team RLL and Acura Meyer Shank Racing while Whelen Cadillac Racing and JDC-Miller Motorsports field single-car efforts.
Proton Competition will scale back its customer Porsche 963 effort to only include Michelin Endurance Cup rounds, while Lamborghini Iron Lynx remains on the grid in a similar capacity for a second consecutive year.
A notable addition to the 12-car LMP2 grid is that of class newcomers Pratt Miller Motorsports, which will add to its continuing two-car Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R program.
They are joined by United Autosports, Algarve Pro Racing, Tower Motorsports, TDS Racing, Inter Europol Competition, Era Motorsport, PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports, Riley, AO Racing and AF Corse.
An expanded two-car BMW effort from Paul Miller Racing headlines the GTD Pro class, where it will go up against similar programs from Ford Multimatic Motorsports and Corvette Racing by Pratt Miller Motorsports.
Lexus (Vasser Sullivan), Porsche (AO Racing) and McLaren (Pfaff Motorsports) are represented through single-car efforts, while Automobili Lamborghini fields a single Endurance Cup entry.
Additionally one-off entries are expected for Daytona, IMSA has stated.
In GTD, meanwhile, the vast majority of current teams are set to return, along with new full-season arrivals for DXDT Racing, Van der Steur Racing and DragonSpeed.
AF Corse returns with a two-car Endurance Cup program, with Triarsi Competizione, Iron Dames and Lone Star Racing set for similar efforts.
MDK Motorsports, Proton and Andretti Motorsports, meanwhile do not return.
“The golden era of IMSA sports car racing is right now as evidenced by yet another incredibly strong and competitive entry list for the 2025 WeatherTech Championship and Michelin Endurance Cup season,” said IMSA President John Doonan.
“Our top GTP category keeps growing, while we continue to see strong representation across the LMP2, GTD PRO and GTD classes.
“We are immensely proud of the teams for confirming their plans so soon and grateful to all of our stakeholders for continuing to provide IMSA fans with the best sports car racing anywhere.”
