3GT Racing has withdrawn the No. 15 Lexus RC F GT3 of Jack Hawksworth and David Heinemeier Hansson following a heavy crash in morning warmup.
According to IMSA Radio, Hawksworth experience a braking problem and subsequently went nose first into the tire barrier in Turn 8. He exited the car under his own power and was checked and cleared from the infield medical center.
The car sustained damage that was too significant to repair in time for this afternoon’s race and the team has shifted its focus to the next round at Virginia International Raceway for the No. 15.
The sister No. 14 entry of Kyle Marcelli and Dominik Baumann is set to start second in the Continental Tire Road Race Showcase.
Hawksworth entered the weekend in sixth in the GT Daytona standings, while Heinemeier Hansson held the eighth spot after electing to skip the round at Lime Rock Park.
It leaves a grid of 32 cars for this afternoon’s race, which gets underway at 1:35 p.m. CDT.
