Scott Andrews has been drafted into Vasser Sullivan for next weekend’s Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring as a result of Kyle Kirkwood’s clashing NTT IndyCar Series commitments at Texas Motor Speedway.
The U.S.-based Australian has been named to the team’s GTD class No. 12 Lexus RC F GT3 alongside Frankie Montecalvo and Richard Heistand, with Aaron Telitz moving over to its GTD Pro entry to fill Kirkwood’s seat for Sebring only.
Confirmation on the driver change was made by the team on social media on Wednesday.
Gold-rated Andrews, who won the 2021 Rolex 24 at Daytona in the LMP3 class, is coming off a GTD class podium finish in January’s IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season-opener in Glibert Korthoff Motorsports’ Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo.
Andrews competes full-time in one of Riley Motorsports’ Toyota GR Supra GT4s in Michelin Pilot Challenge competition.
“I am extremely pleased to be joining the Vasser Sullivan Lexus program or the Sebring 12 hour,” Andrews said. “For me, it’s a bit of a dream come true.
“I tested with them a couple of weeks ago and felt like I really gelled with the team and car pretty quickly.
“Looking forward to one of the biggest races on the IMSA calendar with this new opportunity.”
Kirkwood, along with Helio Castroneves, Scott Dixon and Jimmie Johnson, will all be prioritizing the IndyCar race next weekend after initially exploring pulling double duty until a scheduling change made by the open-wheel series.
