AO Racing has announced it has parted ways with Seb Priaulx ahead of next week’s IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship round at Road America.
A brief statement released by the team on Wednesday said Priaulx is vacating the cockpit of the No. 77 Porsche 911 GT3 R in order to “focus on his growing commitments with Multimatic Motorsports”, to which he is contracted.
It added that the move has come “sooner than expected” owing to “increasing obligations and schedule conflicts” for the British driver.
A replacement for Priaulx aboard the ‘Roxy’-liveried No. 77 car alongside Laurin Heinrich will be revealed “in the coming days” ahead of the IMSA Sportscar Weekend at Road America on August 2-4.
Team principal Gunnar Jeannette commented: “All of us at AO Racing wish Seb the best and are thankful for the time Multimatic let him spend with us.
“He has been a huge part of our team as we brought Rexy to life, and we are proud to have our early successes with him on the effort.
“We are working with Porsche to find a suitable driver to partner with Laurin for the remainder of the season.”
Heinrich and Priaulx lead the GT Daytona Pro drivers’ standings heading to Road America having scored two wins this season at Long Beach and Detroit.
