Colin Braun has put CORE autosport atop the time sheets at Road Atlanta, having posted the quickest time in second practice for Saturday’s Motul Petit Le Mans.
Braun laid down a 1:11.669 lap time in the No. 54 Oreca 07 Gibson to go quickest in the 60-minute session and fastest of the event so far.
The Texan and co-driver Jon Bennett are chasing the Prototype title, entering this weekend’s season finale with a four-point deficit to Action Express Racing’s Eric Curran and Felipe Nasr.
Braun was 0.137 seconds quicker than the No. 5 Action Express Cadillac DPi-V.R of Tristan Vautier in second, with Juan Pablo Montoya making a late improvement to go third quickest in the No. 6 Team Penske Acura ARX-05.
The pair of Team Joest Mazda RT24-Ps completed the top-five overall and in Prototype.
Magnussen Tops GTLM, Bleekemolen Quickest in GTD
Jan Magnussen posted the quickest time in GT Le Mans, taking the No. 3 Corvette C7.R to a time of 1:18.300 to outpace the Practice 1 pace-setting Ford GTs.
The No. 33 Riley Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT3 of Jeroen Bleekemolen, meanwhile, led the way in GT Daytona with a 1:20.506 lap.
No major incidents were reported throughout the session.
A 90-minute night practice session is scheduled to get underway at 7:30 p.m. EDT.
