United Autosports has confirmed that Edouard Cauhaupe will join its upcoming LMP3 effort in the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen.
Cauhaupe, who competes for the Anglo-American team in the European Le Mans Seres, will join Niklas Kruetten and a third to-be-announced driver in the team’s No. 2 Ligier JS P320 Nissan for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship round.
The race will mark United’s LMP3 debut in North America.
“It’s a dream for me to race in the United States so I’m really happy and I will do my best to win this race,” said the Frenchman. “I’m looking forward to racing with Niklas too. He is my competitor in the ELMS but he is fast and I am happy to share the car with him.”
The program comes in addition to the team’s LMP2 entry for the third round of the Michelin Endurance Cup, which will again be driven by Jim McGuire, Wayne Boyd and Guy Smith following the Oreca 07 Gibson’s debut at the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring in March.
“Given that we have now established an LMP2 base over in America, it made sense for us to make the first steps into racing in LMP3 over there too,” team co-owner and managing director Richard Dean said.
“I’m sure Edouard will work well with Niklas to get the best out of the Ligier at Watkins Glen.”
