After a day led by OAK Racing, it was fellow P2 outfit Extreme Speed Motorsports that topped the time charts in Saturday’s one-and-only practice prior to qualifying for tomorrow’s Mobil 1 Sportscar Grand Prix.
Ryan Dalziel took the No. 1 HPD ARX-03b to a fast lap of 1:09.996 in the third TUDOR United SportsCar Championship practice session of the weekend at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.
While it was less than two tenths slower than Gustavo Yacaman’s best time from Friday, it was still good enough for quickest of the session.
Dalziel edged out the No. 90 Spirit of Daytona Corvette DP of Richard Westbrook by 0.228 seconds, while Joao Barbosa was third in the No. 5 Action Express Corvette.
The top five overall and in the Prototype class was completed by Johannes van Overbeek (ESM) and Jordan Taylor (WTR), while Friday’s pace-setting OAK Morgan-Nissan was only 8th with a 1:11.674 lap by Yacaman.
Dirk Mueller led the way in GT Le Mans, with the German recording a 1:15.270 in his No. 56 BMW Z4 GTE he shares with John Edwards.
GT Daytona, meanwhile, saw Kevin Estre again go quickest, taking his No. 73 Park Place Motorsports Porsche 911 GT America to a quick lap of 1:19.033.
Thirty seven cars recorded times in the session, which saw a red flag for the No. 35 Flying Lizard Motorsports Audi R8 LMS, which stopped on track.
Qualifying gets underway at 5:20 p.m. ET.
