Former Rolex 24 at Daytona class pole-sitter James Davison has been confirmed as Guy Cosmo’s replacement in the No. 32 Gilbert Korthoff Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo for this weekend’s Rolex 24 at Daytona.
Davison has been drafted into the GTD squad for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season-opener after team veteran Cosmo was let go by the organization earlier this week.
The U.S.-based Australian will be joined by Mike Skeen, Stevan McAleer and fellow Aussie Scott Andrews.
It will mark Davison’s first WeatherTech Championship start since 2017 after having initially been part of Rick Ware Racing’s Riley LMP2 program at the Roar Before the Rolex 24 in 2020 before the car was withdrawn from the race.
It’s unclear if Davison will contest additional races with Gilbert Korthoff or if Daytona is currently a one-off.
