Kevin Estre will replace Laurens Vanthoor as the third driver in Pfaff Motorsports’ Porsche 911 GT3 R for October’s Motul Petit Le Mans.
The Frenchman is set to join full season drivers Patrick Pilet and Klaus Bachler in the Canadian squad’s No. 9 Porsche for the ten-hour enduro at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta after Vanthoor was drafted into Porsche Penske Motorsport’s GTP lineup for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season finale.
Team manager Steve Bortolotti confirmed to Sportscar365 that Estre, who normally drives full-time in the FIA World Endurance Championship with Porsche Penske, has been offered up by the German manufacturer as the replacement in its GTD Pro entry.
It will mark Estre’s second WeatherTech Championship start of the season after taking part in the Rolex 24 at Daytona in the No. 77 Wright Motorsports Porsche in the GTD class.
Pilet and Bachler enter this weekend’s third-to-last WeatherTech Championship race of the season at Virginia International Raceway fourth in the GTD Pro standings.
