The defending GT Le Mans class-winning Corvette C7.R has stopped on track to bring out the fifth full course caution of the race in the 55th Rolex 24 at Daytona.
Marcel Fassler’s No. 4 Corvette C7.R came to a halt on the backstretch, after running inside the top-five. The car appeared to lose power.
Fassler and co-drivers Tommy Milner and Oliver Gavin combined for victory in last year’s race, in a photo-finish with the sister No. 3 Corvette.
Up front, the No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac DPi-V.R of Max Angelelli leads, ahead of Eric Curran’s No. 31 Action Express Racing Cadillac in second.
Dirk Mueller paces GTLM in the No. 66 Ford GT, with Sam Bird having taken over the lead in GT Daytona in his No. 63 Scuderia Corsa Ferrari 488 GT3 just prior to the yellow.
The No. 63 Risi Competizione Ferrari 488 GTE dropped back in the GTLM running order after contact with the No. 73 Park Place Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R, which also had a penalty for a pit lane infringement.
Rain drops have started to fall around the track, in the sixth hour.
