Jack Hawksworth led the way in the second and final IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship practice session prior to qualifying for Sunday’s Michelin GT Challenge at Virginia International Raceway.

Hawksworth laid down a 1:43.984 early in the 90-minute session to edge out the GTD pace-setting No. 51 Rick Ware Racing Acura NSX GT3 Evo22 of Aidan Read by 0.534 seconds.

The No. 96 Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT3 of Bill Auberlen was third overall and second in GTD, followed by Ross Gunn in the GTD Pro class No. 23 The Heart of Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT3.

Matt Campbell completed the top-five in the No. 9 Pfaff Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R.

The session saw a single red flag, for an accident by the No. 16 Wright Motorsports Porsche of Ryan Hardwick, which went off in Turn 14. The car returned to action with some bodywork repairs.

Trouble also struck the No. 1 Paul Miller Racing BMW, which was taken to the garage with a diffuser issues but also rejoined later in the session.

NTE Sport’s Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo, meanwhile, got a late start after brake issues discovered prior to the session.

Qualifying is set to get underway at 3:15 p.m. ET with live coverage on Peacock and IMSA.tv.
