IMSA has moved its traditional sanctioned test at Daytona International Speedway from December to mid-November, confirming details of the three-day optional test for later this year.
Scheduled for Nov. 15-17, the test will be open to WeatherTech SportsCar Championship teams and homologations that are eligible for the 2025 season.
Previously, IMSA has scheduled its winter sanctioned test in early December. A reason for the change was not communicated to teams.
Of note, the new test dates overlap with the FIA GT World Cup in Macau, which typically sees heavy GT3 involvement from numerous factory drivers.
The Daytona provisional schedule will see transporters load-in on Weds., Nov. 13 in the afternoon, followed by a set-up day for GTP, LMP2, GTD Pro and GTD teams before track action begins for GTP/LMP2 on Friday.
While two daytime sessions are planned on the opening day, two daytime and one night-time session is planned for Saturday, which will see the prototypes joined by GTD Pro and GTD entries.
The final day, on Sunday, will feature GTD Pro/GTD only for two daytime sessions.
Also in a change from this year, the sanctioning body will perform ‘Targeted Performance Testing’ for the production-based categories at the Roar Before the Rolex 24 instead of its sanctioned test, as was the case last year.
