Mathieu Jaminet was quickest in Friday’s one-and-only IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship practice session for the Battle on the Bricks at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The Frenchman in the No. 6 Penske Porsche 963 reeled off a best lap of 1:16.138 to outpace the second-placed No. 01 Chip Ganassi Racing Cadillac V-Series.R of Sebastien Bourdais by 0.039 seconds.

The pair of Team RLL BMW M Hybrid V8s were third and fourth quickest in the hands of Connor De Phillippi and Philip Eng, respectively, with Louis Deletraz’s No. 40 Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti Acura ARX-06 completing the top-five.

LMP2 was led by the No. 11 TDS Racing Oreca 07 Gibson of Mikkel Jensen, with Riccardo Agostini credited with the quickest lap time of all the GT cars in the GTD class No. 023 Triarsi Competizione Ferrari 296 GT3.

Marvin Kirchhofer led the way in the GTD Pro ranks in his No. 9 Pfaff Motorsports McLaren 720S GT3 Evo, which was third among the GT runners behind Loris Spinelli’s No. 78 Forte Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2.

The session saw two red flags, the first for the No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti Acura of Ricky Taylor, which stopped on track with a voltage-related issue.

The second red was for debris that came from the No. 5 Proton Competition Porsche.

The only other notable incident was between the No. 22 United Autosports Oreca of Paul Di Resta, which brushed the wall and bounced into the No. 66 Gradient Racing Acura NSX GT3 Evo22 of Stevan McAleer, resulting in minor damage to both cars early in the running.

Second practice is set for a 8:55 a.m. EDT start time on Saturday.
