DragonSpeed has confirmed a full season IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship GTD program with its new Ferrari 296 GT3.
The Elton Julian-led squad, which debuts the car in this weekend’s Battle on the Bricks at Indianapolis Motor Speedway with Henrik Hedman, Rasmus Lindh and Toni Vilander, will take part in the class on a full-time basis in 2025, as confirmed by IMSA on Thursday.
Drivers for next year’s program have yet to be announced.
DragonSpeed’s history with Ferrari stretches back to Julian’s driving career, who raced a Ferrari 333SP to second place finish in the Rolex 24 at Daytona and the fastest lap at Sebring International Raceway in 1995.
In 2011, DragonSpeed scored the best-ever result at Daytona for the Ferrari 360, while the 2014 season saw Hedman finish second in Pirelli World Challenge GTA competition in a Ferrari 458.
The team has most recently been known for its exploits in LMP2, winning the Daytona and 24 Hours of Le Mans in its class.
“We’re really looking forward to renewing our links with Ferrari and being back in IMSA full time next year, competing against the world’s toughest GT field,” said Julian.
“Our move into GTD opens the door to a bright future for the team and our whole crew is up for the new challenge.”
