Oliver Jarvis was quickest in a mixed-condition final practice session for the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen.
The Englishman took his No. 77 Team Joest Mazda RT-24 P to a best time of 1:43.279 in Saturday’s 60-minute session, which started in full wet conditions before nearly fully drying out.
Times tumbled throughout the session and saw a number of late improvements, including a 1:46.738 by Will Owen that put the No. 50 Juncos Racing Cadillac DPi-V.R second on the time sheets.
Renger van der Zande was third quickest in the No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac DPi, with Olivier Pla (Joest) and Simon Trummer (JDC-Miller) completing the top-five overall and in the DPi class.
GT Le Mans was led by the No. 912 Porsche 911 RSR of Laurens Vanthoor, who went half-a-second quicker than John Edward’s No. 24 Team RLL BMW M8 GTE.
Jack Hawksworth, who is seeking his third straight GT Daytona class win, meanwhile, topped his class in the No. 14 AIM Vasser Sullivan Lexus RC F GT3.
Only 32 of the 36 cars turned laps in the session, with neither of the LMP2 entries electing to venture out in the mixed-condition session.
Despite the challenging conditions early, there were no major incidents or red flags.
Qualifying, which is expected to be run in dry conditions, is scheduled to get underway at 11:35 a.m. ET.
